at d-tech our philosophy on digital navigation is a simple one, we aim to produce charts which look as close to the “admiralty” paper charts you have been using in terms of colour, detail and scale, and to provide the convert to digital navigation with the best interface and hardware available at competitive prices.

With laptop prices at their lowest level ever, we recommend that you shop around and try out the various makes and sizes before committing yourself to purchasing. The latest eee miniature laptops, with 8” to 10” screens, are powerful and feature-full, but you may prefer something with even more power, and a bigger screen, up to 17” in fact.

We can even supply charts for use on a pda, either with or without built-in gps, although for a substantial portfolio, we would recommend that the device has provision for a memory card, usually THE SECURE DIGITAL type, and as these are available in capacities up to 8GB, there is the possibility of carrying a large chart portfolio in your pocket!

we can supply charts of most parts of the NORTHern atlantic, although naturally we tend to concentrate on coverage of the sea areas around british isles, with west Scotland being our particular speciality.

We can also supply hardware such as laptops, pda’s and gps instruments, but should the customer prefer to use their own hardware, we can load the charts and link software to such hardware and give tuition either at our Glasgow base, or on your own vessel.
