History
|
|
After almost born on board in 1952, Ad van der Vliet could be found since most of his time sailing dinghies on the local river Vecht and IJsselmeer(lake). While working as yacht caretaker after school time, he met the well known yacht broker Anton J. van Kempen in 1971 and was so infected that his further career was known. In 1975 the company was established and opened a small office. After a tough study he became in 1980 the youngest Dutch qualified yacht broker ever. In 1980 the 15.000m2 yard in Muiden was purchased to become Europes central sales marina with a service & refit yard. Meanwhile Van der Vliet became the brokerage house for many Dutch yards and naval architects. In 1990 the yard could not further expand. Permissions for larger facilities seemed hard to get and since internet appeared, the company decided to concentrate along the lines they ever started with further success. Since 2006, his son Jeroen van der Vliet is helming the company with same enthusiasm together with Ad.
